Congregation
The Festival begins at 4.30 pm and will end approximately 5.45 pm.  You are welcome to park in the Cathedral car park (see directions below).  The entrance will be open from 4.00 pm to 4.45 pm for members of the congregation. Entrance is from Charlotte Street. See more detailed directions below.  There is no admission, but there is a retiring collection.

Choristers
Schedule on August 12

Please note that there is a Cathedral Mass at 12.00 noon which does not conclude until 1.00 pm.  In order to get the congregation out, clear the car park and set up, the car park will not be available to enter until 1.10 pm (it will close at 2.00 pm for choristers).   If you arrive by car early, just drive around the block a few times.  It is important that we don’t block Charlotte Street by queuing up to get in!

The Welcome Desk is an “outdoor desk” between the Cathedral and the new Francis Rush Centre (it’s on the left side of the Cathedral as you face it from Elizabeth Street). It will be open between 1.00 pm and 1.45 pm.  You will need to visit the Welcome Desk to get a nametag, some information, and to pay.   Please make any cheques out to “RSCM Qld”.  Cost is $15 per person if you or your choir is a member of RSCM.  The cost is $25 per person if you are not a member of RSCM.  You should check with your conductor beforehand to decide whether you are paying, or whether your choir/church is paying for you.

The Massed Choir rehearsal begins at 1.30 pm in the Cathedral and will continue until 4.00 pm when we will take a break (basic refreshments will be available).  The festival starts at 4.30 pm and continues until approximately 5.45 pm.

Parking in the car park
(Please note that although the address of the Cathedral is 249 Elizabeth Street, the car park entrance is in Charlotte Street).

  • Drive to the city.
  • Drive along Eagle Street (you may drive in either direction)
  • Turn into Charlotte Street at the “T” junction between Eagle and Charlotte
  • About 50 metres along Charlotte is the entrance to the Cathedral Car Park on the right.
  • There are two “roller doors” and you will drive through the first.
  • When you enter the car park, you will park in the section to your left.

Dress
Dress for the rehearsal and performance is “black bottoms and white tops” ie. White shirt or blouse and black trousers or skirt. Choristers do not need to wear a tie.  Please note that the Cathedral can be cold during winter, and we strongly advise you to bring some kind of jacket to wear during the rehearsal.

Church bulletin announcements
We would highly appreciate as much publicity as is possible.  Here are two “church bulletin announcements”.  Could you try to have them inserted into your church bulletin or newsletter on the two Sundays between now and the festival, please?  You are free to edit them as you wish.

RSCM Singers
You already know that your rehearsals are Thursday and Friday (August 9 and 10) from 7.30 pm – 9.30 pm.  On Saturday afternoon the rehearsals are between 2.30 and 4.30 pm.  The car park will be open for you on each occasion 30 minutes before the rehearsal starts, but will close soon after the rehearsal begins, so don’t be late.  On the Sunday afternoon you will rehearse with the Massed Choir on the six pieces for Massed Choir at 1.30 pm, with perhaps some opportunity to rehearse the RSCM Singers pieces.  Call Ralph Morton (3336 9104 w, 040302 8919) if you have further questions.
